British Entende Cordiale Platinum 2004 Piedfort

The British Royal Mint produced these Commerative 3 0z Platinum Proofs in a limited edition of 501 coins. It is the first British Platinum Piedfort. They claim it was sold out in advance of shipment; has anyone seen it or purchased it?

One of the folks in the now closed BRM forum claim to have purchased one. BTW, the platinum supposedly only came in piedfort proof.

  • I haven't heard of the platinum but have seen the silver proof here.

The plat/Pied is selling for really big bucks ($ 7500) or about 250% OF bullion.
Will it be a collectors item?

I had heard about the reverse-after seeing it initially and liking it, a second viewing leaves me a little uncertain.

Possibly the two figures walking in tandem a la sower or perhaps facing with joined hands might have been a little more appealing then the two truncated figures we are left with.

It is the BRM's first foray into the platinum coin arena. If it is a success and they do more, the prices should stabilize to normal premiums. At that high a price, not many will be able to afford it. JMO

  • Platinum has certainly gone up. The 1/4 ounce proof ones from the US mint were $329.00 last year. This year they want $410.00 with Platinum trading at $865/$875 that's a $193.00 over melt. image

I agree. Something with two whole figures at least. I don't like the siamese twin.
