Photo Shopped to death ?

I realize this would not look anything like this in hand !

Is it worth a 100 bucks ?

`57 set? isnt that one of the better sets? the pics look stunning.
only the jeff looks unimpressive. the others look above average.

could be a very nice set but what do the coins look like in hand.
    thats the $64,000 question.
  • The seller has pretty good feedback with only a few negs and offers a decent return policy. It might be worth checking out.

  • I think this has been listed about 5 times.

A 57 Jeff Cameo will never look impressive unless its a super DCAM !

If the pix is close.the set's worth over a grand easy.

    Why isnt it slabbed ?

  • That's a good question. I searched his feedback to see what the 4 negs were all about. One was a positve comment marked as a neg. Two suggested that his pics over exagerate the true look of the coins and one suggests that a proof set was repackaged. But, with over 3000 transactions and only 3 negs, if you don't mind the restocking fee to return it, it's kinda tempting to bite the bullet and give it a shot.

  • If it really looked that good in hand, they woulda slabbed it !

The Frankie is worth over 500 in a holder !

Dont think i wanna eat 10 bucks plus shipping both ways for a proof set from a dealer that knows better !

If it was all that and a bag o chips, they would submit it !

    Looks flaky to me !

  • You're probably right. But, you never know. Stranger things have happened.

This person has been discussed before. They do make effective use of photo editing software.
  • Well when I look at the half, it looks like it has some hazing and small milk spots on it.
The Quarter looks to have some too.
Although hazing should probably not detract too much from the overall grading score.
But the question would still be why the half and quarter and dime aren't slabbed already.

    "Why isnt it slabbed ?"

Because he knows PCGS won't slab it (or at least certainly not at cam/dcam) - it's that simple - you do the math.

I asked him the very same question on several occasions regarding several other coins that looked way to cameo or deep cameo from the pics. Each time the reply (at lest I appreciate the honesty) was "PCGS won't slab it".
  • That is not worth $100. IMO.

  • Looks to me like the coins are scanned on a flatbed scanner. Same fleck of dust below the cent in each photo. Not horrible for a scan.

I'm thinking JW is a member here.
    He know's his coins.
If it would slab at PCGS it would be there.
He has a lot of PCI on his site.
Not saying anything good or bad about JW, just what I see. image

  • It's not worth a hundred dollars but it's definitely worth 100 on the Photoshop contrast setting.

Jeff is a straight forward guy.

As stated previously he does know his coins.

He will tell you what is up, so I think you are smart enough to see what is going on here.

I've sold him many a high end cameo (mostly slabbed stuff) over the years.

The positive news as you point out, is that he offers the all important return privilege. This makes your downside risk minimal.

    Good Luck!!!

  • Never meant that he wasnt up to snuff, just that he was really good with photoshop !

i would like to have the set but im afraid i would be dis-appointed when i got it and have to go through the hassle to return it.

If it was that nice,it would be slabbed !

My registry set (number 2 across the street image) isnt half as nice as the pix of this one.

You said it all right there, so why try and convince yourself this set is something that you know it really isn't?
    I brake for ear bars.
  • Lava,

Aint we always looking for a rip ?

On the other hand,if i thought this was a rip,i sure as heck would'nt be asking questions in this shark tank !

  • Stay away, I returned two boxed sets because they didn't look like the pics in his auctions. He did promptly refund my money and had no restocking fee at that time.
