Question on the covers of the Numismatic Sun and Numismatist

LongacreLongacre Posts: 16,717 ✭✭✭
This is kind of a stupid question-- when I get my copy of the Numismatic Sun (from ANR), it comes in a plain white outer cover (the magazine in inside this cover). The same thing happens with the Numismatist-- a bland color cover surrounds the magazine. What is the reason for this? Is it easier to print the mailing labels? Stupid question, but I am curious if anyone knows. Thanks.

    Hello Longrace,

I myself work for a Large format Printing Company that manufactures books, magazines and mailers. I believe they use the "False cover" to protect the Cover from damage due to mailing.

Weird....Many times when I receive my Numiamatist magazine it looks pretty beat up with ripped covers and many pages are heavily dog eared. All my other mags and mail arrives nice and neat. Does this happen to anyone elses Nuismatist mag or is it just me ?????

  • someone once told me that the reason that this is done is so the postman, post office employees, whatever don't know your a coin guy so your house is less likely to be targeted, I could be wrong though?
