They are what they are. They market to a different audience than most of us here. Saying this is somehow offensive??? Gimme a break.
  • I don't get it. David Hall himself actually responded to that thread, and now it's deleted???
  • Someone was offended apparently...

HRH said Littleton is " not one of the bad guys ". I guess that 's favorable, right?
But then, he didn 't say Littleton is one of the good guys, either. heh heh heh.

Basically, one camp said Littleton is no good, and the other camp said they are NOT no good.
HRH said they are " not one of the bad guys ". That 's the last time I read the thread. See no reason why it was axed.
  • Hmmmmm....Littleton=New Hampshire.............D.Q.Bowers=New Hampshire......am I reading into this a bit too much??? ( I know DQB got the boot from PCGS, but....makes one think)

Littleton, aside from a pricing scale that's off the charts, is IMHO not one of the Numismatic Axis Of Evil.

Agreed. Pricey as they are, most indications I get from folks (I've never dealt with them) is that that they at least deliver the goods. That's far better than getting ripped off by scammers not sending anything, or dealing with folks who sell cleaned AU coins as BU and then won't take them back...
  • I was the one that started that thread. I was looking for the replies but I never could find the thread again.

The thread was degenerating pretty fast the last I saw it and didn't appear to be redeemable.

Marketing VG Buffalo nickels for $5.00 and VF common date Morgans for $25.00 to Boy Scouts in Youth Magazines on approval services with microscoping fine print that a lawyer needs to examine is not evil?
hmmmm, they did it to me 25 years ago and I did not forget the ROYAL SCREWING I got from them. Its not about introducing thousands to this great hobby, its about how these scumbags do it!!! . I don't believe in the ends justifying the means. Littleon is an integral part of the axis of evil and they will burn in hell to a crisp just like the HAGARS.

    THE GOOD:

They give you what they advertise and have introduced people many to this hobby.

    THE BAD:

They sell coins for 3-5x what you could buy them for from any legit dealer. I'll bet they don't sell Redbooks or other price guides!

Like a sizeable number of dealers in the hobby, their job is only to make you pay the most they can for a coin. Most buyers really do not know what they are getting until they've been fleeced a number of times. And those who buy coins on TV may never know.

They have to charge those high prices to pay for all their marketing. I can't open up a credit card bill without having a Littleton ad fall in my lap. Whether or not they are a good company to deal with, I don't know. However, they exist by marketing to an uninformed and unknowledgable customer. The term peddler comes to mind.
