Anybody know if there is a market for old "Red Books" aka Guide Book of US Coins ??

I was just offered a bunch of older ones...from the 50s and early 60s, but have no idea what to pay.

thanks for any info

  • Actually in the back of your Redbook they have a guide to what the older ones are worth, I would say if you can get them from the 50s and 60s in pretty decent or almost new condition it might be worth it, if they're in perfect used condition buy em' now.

I saw that, but had no idea what reality was on them...the red book on coins tends to be retail...so is the same true for the back issues.

Also, I was told most of the books are in decent shape...what the rb would call very good to fine.

  • I personally wouldn't go for it, unless you wanted them for some kind of research, but im not expert, keep asking, I think the prices in the back are for mint or near-mint copies.

Those old Red Books are great to own. You can always use them for old pricing research.
They give you a window into the hobby of the past.

There is an extremely strong and steady market for those old Red Books.

Just try to find one of the 1952-1953 edition. Nearly impossible.

There is a waiting line of 20 buyers for that edition at all times on ebay just to pounce on just one of them including me,

Even the 1947 edition was easier for me to acquire.
