Seated Liberty Doubled Die?

GonfunkoGonfunko Posts: 1,481 ✭✭✭
I was looking at my dime type set and came upon the Seated Liberty. Are any doubled dies know for 1889-P on the reverse in the leaves towards 9-11 o'clock? He are some pics - is it a doubled die or strike doubling?

Any help is very much appreciated.

    It's the 1889-P dime.

I can't figure out your picture, but the 1889-P, Greer 101, is a doubled die reverse, with doubling in the wreath at 9 o'clock.

That's pretty much where this doubling is.

I can almost see atoms in those pics.

Perhaps back up a step or two.

appears to be some splitting on the tips of those things. would be nice to see a more normal pic.

I'll try and post some regular pics tommorrow. It's too late now, since it's dark and artificial light makes the coin even more difficult than it normally is to photgraph. The magnified pics are 60x, and are all around the region where the leaves in the wreath form a sort of cove about 45 degrees NW of the O in ONE.

There are five different doubled die reverses for the 1889 date. Please post a bit low magnification scan and I will be able to tell you if it is one of the 5 doubled reverse dies. More detailed information is always available at www.seateddimevarieties.com

Can you circle the spots on the above pic where the large pics are close-ups of?

Yes, it appears to be a DDR. I've defined it as F106 at www.seateddimevarieties.com

Hear are the plate coins for your comparison. Note the obverse always comes with a weak head on this variety.

I bought a nice PCGS60 example at ANA Pitts as a duplicate to the web-bbok plate coin.
