I think they are actually gold toned Russ. And I know how it is done. Anyone can do it in a matter of about fifteen minutes. Ever hear of MS70 cleaner. Put about half a dish full and then throw a silver dollar or a peace dollar into it and let it set for about fifteen or twenty minutes. It will turn the color shown in the picture. It will easily dip off with jewelluster as the surface of the coin is not actually toned at all. It is merely the yellow dye in the ms70 which adheres to the surface of the coin in a smooth thin layer until dipped in jewelluster. They are also easy to detect by someone experienced in grading coins, hence the no grade when sent to PCGS or NGC.
In an insane society, a sane person will appear to be insane.
XpipedreamR.... I believe I remember when you won that nicely toned Peace$. I don't believe you paid too much. That is if I remember the price correctly. And if it hurts that much to sit down still, just to back up my opinion of the price you paid, I'll bail you out of it for what you paid.

What's the grade, and what did you spend on it?? I just love the color combinations on it!
As for the price...let's just say that I'm still trying to forget, and I'm still a little sore when I sit down
The bidding was fierce, but I'm glad that I bit the bullet on this one!
