Anyone seen an 1841-O seated dime with this reverse cud?

Bought a seated dime collection at ANA and this coin was in the set. First time I see an 1841-O dime with a reverse cud. Obverse is nothing to write home about, but the reverse is rather nice. Will be adding this late die state listing as 1841-O F107b in the new Liberty Seated Dime Web-book at www.seateddimevarieties.com. Current members will be able to see the F107, F107a and F107b listings featuring the degradation of Reverse G. I'll be updating in the next 24 hours.

Anyone have a guess on rarity in grades VF through MS? R6+?

I just looked at mine. No cud.
Mine's not at all like your's, though. Mine has the buds whole where your's are cut open. Same small "o", though.

    Ray,

Sounds like your 1841-O is a closed bud. Does it look like this?

Different obv/rev dies from my previous post

Yes it's the closed buds, small "o".
It has the die bulge on the reverse.

Mine has open buds and no cud.
  • Nice coin dismeguy! I've never seen an 1841-O dime with a cud like that. Aside from the neat cud, would you grade this coin an XF, scratches? Do you have any interesting half dimes or just dimes? Thanks. imagematteproof

I would grade this coin VF20. Too much wear on the legs and scroll to be higher. Still a really neat coin. In the set was another example from the same obv/rev dies with the rev being cracked at STA(TES) but no cud. That coin will become the F107a listing.
