Google's cache of www.brokencc.com shows them as having an identical coin listed for sale, but they've since deleted the picture.
<< <i>No - the yahoo auction is probably the same guy. In other words, he selling the same coin that he most likely does not own, in two places. I'm about 90% sure he took the pic from brokencc.com before they deleted it. After all - how many NGC AU-58 1864 Seated Dollars are you going to find at roughly the same time? >>
I don't know -- it's not THAT unusual, and it's certainly not enough evidence to suggest that the Yahoo auction is a scam -- especially if we didn't see a cert # or a picture of the dollar in the other site you mentioned. NGC shows 11 population in 58 -- the most common certified grade in their pop census. The Yahoo guy has sold quite a few 3- and 4-figure coins with no listed complaints. Unless he's been hijacked, there's no reason to suspect him of scamming (IMO).
One of the scams is that someone will pirate, or copy, a picture and then make an auction as if it's their own. We've had it happen from our images before and I'm sure it will happen again. If you this happening contact us and we can notify Ebay.
Just in case, we are not the ones posting in two places. Be careful out there.
