Signed Balls!

Nice title!
I'm interested in picking up single signed balls by some of my favorite players-mainly greats of the past.
1. Is there a source(s) that have inventory signed by the actual player?
2. What, if anything, does a COA "guarantee" me?
3. Are there some COA's/companies that are the gold standard for collecting?

I'm sure I'll have other questions, but thanks for whatever insights people can provide.

  • Let's see!

    1) Steiner Sport's, TriStar, Mark Jordan (Jordan Sport's)

    2) A COA/LOA is only as good as the name/company backing it. If you are not familiar with the name on the certificate (and not too many other people are either), see number three for a second opinion.

    3) A few Good COA's/LOA's: PSA/DNA, Mike Gutierrez (GAI), SCD Authentic (Spence/Grad), Mark Jordan (Jordan Sport's), Steiner Sport's, TriStar, Tracercode

Some advice: never buy a NL ball signed by Mickey Mantle, almost all of them are fake. image

    Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info. I'm looking into picking up a few items but would REALLY like to avoid getting fake merchandise.

  • cardfan- who are you looking for? i have been slowly selling off my HOF collection and have several mid$ items still around...of are you looking for modern AS players?
  • I have two but they are not signed.
  • WLF,
Looking for a few different players-Mays, Banks, Gwynn, Bench, Reggie, Ted Williams. And right now, mainly exploring options.
You can PM me with a sample of what you have if you have a minute.
    Thanks

one simple thing you can do - I have pretty good faith in psa/dna - so if you go to ebay and do a simple search: just enter psa/dna - you will get all the vendorz that have that kind of inventory - one thing to look out for IMO - go with the itemz that have a "numbered" psa/dna COA and the matching "numbered" sticker on the ball - otherwise they may have done a bulk thing which is not as trustworthy IMO - crap can slip through - Rotman has a ton of ballz for sale w/o the sticker on the ballz - they are a good company - don't get me wrong - I just like seeing the sticker on the ball. Also, ask if the scan is the ball you will get - sometimez the balls are closeoutz and can come to you discolored or sigs with smudges. This is just a start. BTW, look out for PSA/DNA spamming - read carefully - just a suggestion.
PM me if you have any questions - I buy about 1 - 2 balls a month.

  • I had mine signed my Jenna Jameson. I wrap them up in a ziplock bag when I take a shower to keep the sig from fading off. It's alot of work, but I figure I can hand them down to someone when I die. I may see what I can get for them at the National this year. After all, they will be coming with me.

7 MVP awards, the single season HR record, career walks record, single season walks record, 700HR/500SB, and two batting titles near 40 years old. How can one argue that those aren't stats of the greatest to ever play the game??? All this and there is still more to come!!!! Bonds:2005 NL MVP. Or are you going to doubt him again?
