This weekend, at the Carson City Coin Show, all of the different dates and denominations of coins struck at the CC mint will be on display together. They say this is a first.
The two coins the mint dosn't have in their collection, the 1873-CC "without arrows" dime and an example of the 1873-CC "without arrows" quarter, will be on display. A local collector named Rusty Goe owns them and will display them. Cool eh'?
Also, the mint is going to mint copies of the 1899 Morgan dollar and a couple of medallions commemorating the V&T railroad and Elephant Rock on the old press during the show. I don't know what they will cost, but if anyone wants one let me know and I'll pick up a few.

May be a first for them but it is not the first such display. I saw all of them in one place in 1976 at the Philadelphia Mint. Eliasberg collection was on display.

Oh right, I think they mean the first time for the mint.
My #1 Low Ball Peace Dollar Set

JUST the 70CC? I mean as long as my hand is in there.......
On a different note, the paper reported that the mint was going to reproduce the 1899 Morgan. I think that's a typo. I'm guessing they will probably crank out 1889-CCs. I'm wating for a call from the museum to confirm.
There is a complete set on loan displayed at the Carson City Mint.

The set on loan at the mint is missing two coins.
What in the h3ll is this guy thinking, waste of his time??? There was no one else standing at the both. I could simply step aside if someone walked up while I was looking through them.
Anyone else had an experience like that?
This show, for various reasons, was the first coin show I've ever been to. I was floored by the volume of coins available. I can't even imagine what a major show is like.
The first day it took me a couple of hours just to get my bearings and focus on a few coins I felt I could afford and needed. I found an 1891-CC Eagle in AU-58 that really had good luster. I checked it out and got the price and moved on. I figured I might find a 60 or 61 close to the price he was asking. I did find some 61s and 62s but they didn't seem to have the "look" the 58 did. I needed to open my store and left hoping the coin would be there the next day.
On Sunday I asked my daughter if she wanted to go with me. She's 14 and has been responding well to various coins I've shown and given her. She's different though as she likes Canadian stuff. We walked by the dealer with the 1891-cc $10 I had my eye on and it was still there. She told me to buy it but I wanted to see if there was anything she would like before I blew my budget. I had seen some "darkside" stuff the day before.
We want to the dealer that had a lot of Canadian coins and she loved them. I had purchased a Capitol Plastics holder for the 1912 through 1914 $5 and $10 Canadian gold coinage from the auction Airplanenut had put on and we had studied those coins on the net. After looking a a few of the $5s in various condition she picked out a 1912 $5.00 gold in NGC XF-45. The dealer looked at her and me and said we could have it for $145.00. You should have seen her eyes when I bought it for her. I just might have her hooked.
BTW, I finally pulled the trigger and made an offer on the 1891-CC and now own my first example of Carson City gold.
I tell you, I would be "coin poor" if I went to too many of these shows.
So, what's this about some sort of Long Beach show?
