Sending Coins to Anacs for Grading

I decided to try sending a few coins to Anacs for Grading. This is one of them, a 1899-O Morgan.
Any thoughts as to what it will come back as? Hopefully not in a bodybag.

Looks like a 63, and I can guarentee that it will not come back in a bodybag (ANACS net grades).

  • Hard to grade from pics, but i'd say MS63, could go 64 if the cheek is clean and that mark on the cheek isn't so distracting. May have been dipped, but doesn't look like ANACS will NET it.

  • Thanks Steve:
What do you mean by "Net Grades" ?

nice white O Morgan. Well struck for an O mint.
either recently dipped or extremely well preserved.
tough to call the grade without using a loupe on it.
if hairlined it would net grade down abit to a 58 maybe
otherwise it looks like a nice white 64.
  • Unique to ANACS (aside from NCS, I believe). If a coin is cleaned, damaged, or altered in any other way, ANACS will note the damage on the slab. They will not give you an official grade but they will tell you the grade of the remaining details on the coin as well as give you a NET grade which is the condition of the coin with the alteration taken into consideration. So no matter what, you won't get Bodybaggedimage

Net grading is not for everyone. It's best for rare varieties, the coin gets atttributed and into a slab rather than remaining raw.

Good luck with ANACS, looks 63+ to me too.
