Miswraps/factory seconds/imperfect boxes were marked with a big black magic markered "X" across the top of the box.

More O/C, miscut, and wrong-amount-of-cards-per-pack cards/packs would be prevalent in these boxes.

They were also close out sales at the end of the year and returns from stores. My friend used to buy these close outs directly from Topps and I used to go with him to pick them up. I went with him twice to pick up close outs of 1984 Topps football both wax and cello for $37.00 PER CASE! My friend John paid me for helping him by giving me a case of wax or cello and allow me to buy a case or two at the $37.00 he paid for them. We used to open the packs on the drive home. Now those were the good old days!
