Where Are All The Graded Cards?

I do not have access to the PSA population report, so this is
based purely on the online BGS population report.

Do a search of "ichiro bgs*" on ebay and you get 43 items.

Do a search of "bonds bgs*" on ebay and you get 266 items.

According to the BGS Population report, there are 23111 graded cards of Ichiro.

According to the BGS Population report, there are 56936 graded cards of Barry.

Now of course these numbers are not truly accurate due to cards being lost,
cracked out, etc.

But I have to wonder, are people just holding onto these cards for dear life?

Is there really a better time to try to sell cards of these players than now?

How can there be so many graded cards of these players, but so few of them
being offered for sale?

I understand private collections, but this is borderline absurd.

Keep in mind this is only BGS. I'd imagine the situation with PSA is even worse.

I'm sure a good amount of Ichiro's cards are in Japan, he is a popular star here but god-like over there.
With Bonds, I'm sure many speculators are waiting when he hits #700 or #756 and then you'll see his
Rookie cards coming out of the woodwork...jay

Also did you break down the "grade" ratio? Most on Ebay are probably 8 or better. Also not everyone sells on Ebay. Another thing why "sell" now when the induction to the HOF is usually the best time to sell. Isnt it?
