Thanks for the link!!!
You're welcome, LordM!
Remember last year someone identified a new Seated Half variety, and CW quoted the owner as saying that he was going to hire an armed guard for his million dollar specimen. Quite a bit of hyperbole, but cool as heck nevertheless for the owner of the discovery piece!
As an aside, Gerry's a nice guy too (despite his selection of that lackluster domestic cab! ).

Hey, Xpipe- what have you done for me lately, you Kruncher-crunchin' freakazoid?
I asked Gerry about a printed version and it's not going to happen.
As far as the domestic cab, last time I select a CA wine. Next time we explore wines, its all Australian and Argentina............. Remember, I selected the Penfold Shiraz first!

I always thought there was also a stretching of the word DIME in addition to the last E in ONE in 1876.
Also the serifs at the bottom of DIME is less wide than previously. Also the berries to the right of ONE seem more compressed than previously.
The letter E now clearly begins to the RIGHT of the left side of the highest leaf underneath it.
There is even more than that to speak of.
I have not seen these observations anywhere in print and always wondered about it.
William Barber was much more prolific as the Chief Engraver than we give him credit or condemnation for (with Charles Barber probably really doing most of the work behind the scenes!)
We see that the Barbers were "niggling" (to quote Walter Breen) many more denominations and series in 1875, 1876 and 1877 than we dare realize.
Lordmarcovan will tell you that I happen to be a BIG fan of the seated dime series and do collect them but not the whole series.
Also could you turn on your PM?
Why?
I did all the research and development in html. It would take me another two years to convert the files into something that a printer could handle.
The next reason is I can't get all the information into a book. I started the process of building the book, the challenge was cutting out information so I could keep it 400+ pages. I don't want to spead time cutting information, while I can continue to add more varieties to the web-book.
Another reason, a hardbound book is obsolete the minute it is printed. There will be some mistakes when listing 1200+ coins. With the web-book, members can have inputs, question my listings. Go ask Lynn Ourso about the discussions over an 1856-O dime variety where he convinced me that a second medium O reverse die existed. I only listed one die until Ourso showed me a great coin with new die cracks.
The web-book and CDROM format is the way to go for information that totals over 1200 dimes and growing. Variety collectors want pictures for attributing coins not a lot of text. If there are certain varieties you are looking for at shows, then you can print out those pages. That's better than carrying a heavy book around a bourse floor.
Anyways....check out www.seateddimevarieties.com and look into the preview section. Image that content across another 120 dates and mintmark. Still looking for more founding members to build interest in seated dime varieties. I will be publishing the Major 100 Varieties in one of the upcoming Gobrecht Journal issues.

When die cracks or cuds develop, are you calling them new varieties, as opposed to die states?
See the attribution content in the preview section
I use the word "variety" freely in conversations...in this forum, I may need to be more precise, it is a late die state

As long as you aren't talking about PMM quarters, most of the folks here will look the other way on interchangable use of the terms "variety", "die state", etc.
Regarding the book, what I suggest you do is offer to sell the book rights and then see how much anyone is really interested!
The paypal options works as I've seen the testing drop a few pennies into my account. Go ahead and pay with paypal. If you don't get an automatic password, then email me and I will manually generate one for you. Need to call my website guy to confirm that the testing is complete and I can change the subscribe page text.
Thanks for the question
