All thats Gold, really isn't Gold

Heres an interesting article I read today on Yahoo, I always thought those Olympic medals were made of solid gold, I guess not.

Olympic Gold Medals

>>>>"Not counting labor, the metal content alone for the Athens medals comes to more than $400,000, and the gold medals are not even pure gold. Not that the International Olympic Committee (news - web sites) was considering solid gold medals -- the last medals of pure gold were awarded in Stockholm in 1912.

Nowadays, gold medals are actually made of silver, with a coating of six grams (about one-fifth of an ounce) of gold -- about $83 worth at current prices. "<<<<

  • yup... heard something about this on the Olympic broadcast the other night... Gold medals are gold plated, but silver is 100% silver, bronze is 100% bronze... but then again it's not the $value, it the sentimental value of each that is meaningful.
  • They better no bite them too hard the silver may show through.. image
  • worth 83 bucks? stick your "gold" medal on eBay and see how much it fetches! lol!

Influx- I like you monopoly card. Wish eBay and the law would enforce it.
