Image is reverse of Lib $5. Forget the obverse. Reverse is "worst" side. Opinions on grade?

A true AU58. In otherwords- not an MS62 with some rub.

On the reverse, yes -- I don't think the reverse is better than 53 on its own. But you say the obverse is better, and if the obverse looks 58+ (which it may not), or maybe even a very strong 55, then I think it could still get 55. If the obverse isn't that much better, I'd agree -- 53, tops.
