Ya know,
I almost made a big mistake today.
There is a coin that I am wanting that is a bit out of the price I want to pay right now, so I was doing that bad thing of "stepping down" a notch.
I saw one come up on ebay within range (~$25 to start bidding and ~$35 for BIN).
EDIT: I relooked at the particular auction (I have been looking at a lot of them for 1968 PCGS slabbed coins lately). The correct price was $9.95 and $25 BIN. Sorry, but I would NOT buy from poe even at the $9.95 price
I honestly came really close to pulling the BIN trigger, but as I verified a few things (terms/policies, etc.....something jumped out at me....SELLER!!!).
Now, if you hadn't posted your experience with poe, I may have gone ahead and done it. But, since you posted, and he came to "defend" himself (with catfish's help), I made up my mind to not even come close to buying from him.
It wasn't worth the potential hassle.
So, thank you Matt.......I, at least, have benefited from your misfortunes.
I should also thank catfish and poe as well....if they hadn't come on to defend themselves the way they had, I still might have bought the coin and just thought it was a personal issue between the 2 of you....but the way poe and catfish have carried on, I am quite sure it wouldn't be an isolated instance.
Edit for auction info to show the auction/seller I will stay away from:
Auction that I won't buy from due to seller's apparent dishonesty, hostility, and stupidity

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

It's truly funny, no make that truly sad, that people in this day and age are so wrapped up in their own little world that they refuse to try and teach someone else the correct or accepted way of doing things.

No, you were just the pooper scooper.

He did. I thought it was an odd comment. I've never heard a coin dealer say that having people believe he sells cleaned and overgraded material, and refuses returns, is good for business.....

Now that is humorus! I give you 's for that one. But really, I had nothing to gain or lose from that transaction. Nor in the lack of the referenced one not occuring.

I also love to go through rolls to find coins.

Linky to another "wonderful" Poe "MS" coin
As far as "having "No horse in that race", all one has to do is read Catfsh's strident "Defense" of Poe in the original thread to know on which "Horse" Catfish bet the farm. On the other hand, as that thread has over 500 posts, don't bother. Suffice it to say that ANACS determined the coin that Poe sold was seriously overgraded and ultimately Pay-pay or ebay (I forget which one) forced Poe to refund Mirabela's money. Catfish lost his bet "in that race".

In his case the PR was definately not good PR.

More dissembling by a proven fraud. Why don't you lecture us again on auction ethics? We need your tutelage -- really we do.
Thanks for the heads up.
