I came up with a eight letter word, several six and a few four letter words, CODED was the first five letter word I came up with, I don't know if there are any others because once I found the first one I stopped looking.
There are two ways to make something upside down. You can flip it top to bottom around a horizontal line or you can rotate it 180 degrees. The two methods do not give you the same effect.
Take SWIMS, if you flip it around a horizontal line you get SMIWS. But if you rotate it you get SWIMS. Doops said to flip it upside. CODED flipped upside down is CODED.
Second five letter word BOXES Third five letter word BIKED Fourth five letter word BIKES Fifth word BOCHE Sixth word BOCKS Seventh word BODED Eighth word BODES
I think I'll stop there
Edit: Oops I goofed S doesn't work when flipped eliminate BOXES, BIKES, BOCKS, and BODES. Still leaves me with four words CODED, BIKED, BOCHE, and BODED. I havent looked for others.
ni·sin Pronunciation: 'nIs-&n Function: noun : a polypeptide antibiotic that is produced by a bacterium of the genus Streptococcus (S. lactis) and is used as a food preservative especially for cheese and canned fruits and vegetables
Actually learning a few things here. What a great site.
Aw shucks I was just getting ready to post that as the second five letter word that worked by the rotation method. And I've been though all the possiblities for five letters by rotation, SWIMS and NISIN are the only two words.
Well there were only a few letters that work. IONSH Then it was a matter of making a word out of them that worked. NISIN sure enough was a real word, but I had to look it up in the Dictionary first.
SWIMS doesn't pass the flip test.

i knew there were more (per the flip forward/backward method) but i figured it would be a good "brain taxer" DIXIE was the one i had in mind... bound to be quite a few more..
I'm not exactly sure how that's a puzzle. I do remember a song with that title was in heavy rotation at my preferred watering hole (along with Afroman's "Because I Got High") about three years ago. Both songs were mildly amusing the first time, but it didn't take long at all for me to get sofa king tired of them.

It's probably an anagram. I don't have the time or patience to do them.
