IMHO: I believe that it is old worn out circulated stuff. If there is any silver in it the silver is bullion price. I seriously doubt there is anything of much more value than using them to stuff holes in old Whittman folders. I have only seen people wind up taking some elses unwanted old stuff. It is easy to get if you have a coin store, people come in selling old coins, mostly worn out except for a few gem pieces. After a few years what do you do with the leftovers? It is a excellent story though. If it is a private auction, you want to steer clear. Private feedback too.
I have to agree with the posters above me. You definitely won't be getting anything that justifies the price in lots like these. Probably a lot of fillers and culls or problem pieces that don't sell well enough to justify holding them. Any silver that might be in there will only be good for melting.
Wow- that's a whole lot of money for a jumbo size "blue moon mystery box" type auction- I would love to hear from the buyer about what exactly is in that pile o' coins......
My style is impetuous, my defense is impregnable !

I'll sell you a "unsearched" lot of 50,000 coins for $25,000... $500 of pennies.
