When did EBAY start showing the bidding amounts during the auctions?

It's going to be even easier to choose your snipe amount now.

Why? The ones I just looked at don't show MAX bids....only what the current HIGH bid is (as well as the actual amounts that the underbidders had bid).
So, you can see the actual bid history early (I bet it is an error they will correct, but I like it) but it still doesn't show the max bid.
For instance, if there are 4 bids ($5, $7, $8.50, and $10) for an item and I come in for a MAX bid for $20, I can still be seen as HIGH bidder for $11.
It won't show that $20 is my max....only that I am high bidder at $11.
Still weird though.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

If it was a computer error, I don't think it would add this:
<< <i>Only actual bids (not automatic bids generated up to a bidder's maximum) are shown. Automatic bids may be placed days or hours before a listing ends. >>
Unless the eBay software has morphed in to AI and can now add things of it's own volition. It's HAL!

Read and you will see that it says that the maximum bid is not shown. Example: If you bid $100 on a coin, and I bid $500 and outbid you, you will not see my $500 bid, just the bid that I beat you with. You can still come back and bid again, but that doesn't mean that you will be able to snipe me unless you bid over $500 before the auction ends.
Exactly. eBay is probably thinking that newbies or megaknuckleheads will think YOUR high bid is actually $101 or whatever, and they'll go ahead and bid $120, $150, etc....even if they don't win they'll jack up the bids for eBay's benefit (higher final value fees)...also I'm sure if someone did a study they'd find that most people, when outbid (even "instantly") will enter a slightly higher bid, even repeatedly. Higher FV fees, higher FV fees, higher FV fees! Also I'm sure if you can see the bid history and it's all in small increments, or whatever, that'll encourage more bids too. To me it just sounds like a move by feebay to increase their FV fees. As a sometimes-seller, I'm skeptical that it will actually increase bids on MY items As a buyer, I'm absolutely positive that it'll increase the prices that I will wind up paying for things
