Why is it that all of you who snipe, snipe on modern coinage?

I don't see too much mention of anyone doing this "sniping" with coins that aren't the current coins or proof versions of them, or coins before 1900, most end up being Kennedys. Why is this? If you have any snipes before 1900 please post em'.image

I'm waiting for the auction to end. Put in an esnipe bid.

Not 20th century. NOT a Kennedy half.

In fact, I bid on the auction with you in mind, CG89. Ask yourself what new interest of yours we most recently discussed, and you'll know what I'm e-sniping. image

This is only a function of who is posting their sniping exploits, and it's a bit of a running theme with the cameo proof set experts around here.

I don't think you can draw any conclusion from this, and I bet lots of members don't post their acquisitions. Here's one I tried to win just the other day (didn't post about it, didn't get it because of the reserve, and if I did win I still wouldn't have posted -- I'm too busy in the Ebay fraud bashing threads).

The only modern stuff I snipe is stuff in slab varieties that I need. The COINS I snipe are mostly 18th century stuff.
  • Ha! These vultures will snipe anything. I know. They grabbed a few nice 18th Century
    coins out from under me.
