Collectors should examine any 1800 half dimes for evidence of a possible new die marriage.

But after having once spent a few years vainly searching for decent Fine for a type set, I fully realize that "rough" is par for the course on Draped half dimes.
They all seem to either look like that one there, or be amazing MS survivors- without much middle ground. Or maybe a few nice middle-ground coins exist, but never hit the market?

Yes, but right now it's the only contender for FK of the variety. Hopefully someone will notice that their LM3 variety is not right and we'll have a nicer example to confirm the marriage.
This is one of the hazzards of collecting bust coins by die marriage; accepting either a hole or a dog in your otherwise nice set of commons.

BINGO NEW REVERSE FOR 1800 (May be reverse C used in 1801, 02, and 03 but the space between D and fourth feather looks too close.). Identifying features:
Line between clouds is to the right of center of the O in OF like on Rev B (On Rev A it is the left of the cent of the O.)
Then look at the berries in the olive branch.
On both Rev A and B the bottom outer leaves are well away from the eagles talon and the outer bottom berry is up against the leaf. On this reverse the leaves are much closer to the talon and the berry is equally spaced between the talon and the leaves. (This should be diagnostic)
Then look at the top two berries. The outer berry is well above the inner berry as seen a Rev A.
So this die has cloud spacing like Rev B, upper berry placement like Rev A and the bottom outer berry and leaf placement doesn't match either one.
D in UNITED appears to be noticably closer to the fourth feather on this die than on either Rev A or B.
