    ($6.05, Reserve not met) image

I guess a canister of propane must cost close to $6.05 these days.
  • What is sad is that there are 3 bids. So somewhere out there people said "wow! gotta have that coin!"

How do you know it was propane torched?

    It could've been butane. image

  • Actually lord you are probably not far off. It looks like it was done with a pinpoint flame to get that precise. A real craftsman with his butane soldering torch.
  • From his auctions it looks like he "cooked" up a couple of Morgans too. I believe he
is another one of Tonecoin's many relatives getting rich on Ebay.

Not a chance. The funky curvature at the ends of the bands is a dead giveaway.

  • He also has a 64 kennedy proof up that is the AH type but probably AT also.

edit: added pic of the 64 proof
  • Well that is one thing one can do with a perfectly good Dcam proof Kennedy.
I would have done something different.
I'd hate to be the sucker that tries to get it slabbed though.
Humm, maybe that one slabbing service that grades it according to how much money you give them will.

I just looked at the '64 proof. I don't think that's natural or artificial. Nice fingerprint, though.image

    That's not a torched coin.

  • The coin is definitely NT! If you don't believe me, send it to ACG and see if it doesn't come back in a slab!
I heard they were making a French version of Medal of Honor. I wonder how many hotkeys it'll have for "surrender."

regardless, i think it looks kool!

  • And the funny thing is, he is not actually misrepresenting this coin in any way. Let's look at what he actually says.

'Wow, what a beautiful coin! One of my favorites, never seen another like it.'

A true statement. He's never seen another one like it, because he probably only made one.

'Really love the rainbows on the obverse and the purple eagle on the reverse.'

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and this obviously his honest opinion.

'Nice Proof coin with no problems and immaculate surfaces. Would grade it PR 68.'

The fields do appear to be clean with no detracting marks, so you can't fault the first part of this statement, as for the grading part, maybe he really would grade it a 68. Nobody else would, but he certainly might.

'Pictures are in no way enhanced and picked to accurately reflect the true appearance of the coin.'

Of course the pictures haven't been altered, it's the coin that's undergone the alterations, so there's no need to doctor the photos.

See how subjective truth can be??
