Help!! Where is an 1872 1 Ore from??

What country is this from? It is an 1872 and appears to be in VF-EF condition? Worthless? Thanks for your help!!

    Has to be Sweden, worth about $5.00 The ore denomination was also used in Denmark and Norway.

  • The "Ore" name value was used in Scandanavia, so you have your choice of Denmark, Norway, and Sweden.

    Well, you can scratch out Denmark because they didn't introduce the Øre until 1874, two years later. Likewise, Norway didn't begin issuing them until 1876, a further two years. This particular Swedish coin (KM-705 in Krause) comes in three varieties, each listing about $3 in VF and $15 in XF, so yours might be valued at roughly $8-10. The coin was designed by the famous Swedish engraver and medalist Lea Ahlborn and the varieties concern her engraver's initials on the coin (at the base of the bust). This is rendered "L.A.", "LA." or "LA".
