Suggestions for my Type Set....Dollar

OK everybody...
I am working on my Dansco #7070 Type Set.
I have very few coins in it and plan to study a little before jumping in any further. My plan is to have all Philadelphia mint coins. (preferably AU and above)

What do you all suggest to fill the hole for the 1983 to Date Commemorative Dollar. Remember...I really don't want to put proofs in here. (I know nothing about commemorative proof dollars, maybe this isn't even an issue?)
I never met a coin that wouldn't fit in my collection.....

Since your forum icon is a baseball logo, perhaps one of the baseball themed dollars? Either a 1992 Olympic or 1997 Jackie Robinson would work well (the former being somewhat less expensive).

    I'm kinda leaning that way..flaminio...

But...Until today..I never really looked at any of them.

Was kinda wondering...if somebody saw my set..would say "WOW he has a ###### commemorative dollar"

  • In my hole i put a MS 1987 Constitution dollar which is beautiful and perfectly fits in with the SAE it appears next to in the album. Just a suggestionimage

    Ditto on the Dolley Madison.

Or maybe a White House dollar?

Is a white house dollar a proof......Am I limited to a proof in this hole?

If that's the case.....Doly Madison is logged in...

All modern commemoratives are available in both proof and uncirculated issues. You're not limited in this regard at all.

    1984 Olympic Dollar.

The reverse has absolutely the most stunning eagle ever on a US coin.

    Thats right, i said it.
They are gorgeous and cheap. I bought mine raw for like ten bucks. I dont know where it would grade, but it would be way up in the PR67, 8, or 9 (who can tell anyway)

I just read that you didnt want to use proofs - sorry.

I made that whole back page of my album proofs. It looks neat and cost me less than fifty bucks with amazing looking coins.

I love that eagle too! Shame that the obverse looks like...something...
