Slightly Confused

I won a gold coin a over a year ago. It is a 50 balboa coin from Panama (1983) and in the Krause I was given, it says it is the "banned butterfly fish." Does that mean it was literally banned for use, or is it some other term? Please help. I can't seem to find the coin anywhere online.

    A typo, apparently.

The 2004 catalog lists no 50-balboa coin with a butterfly fish, but it does list a 1983 20-balboa with a "Banded Butterfly Fish".

  • Ahhh well, the typo was on my part. What are the chances that there was a tear on that word in the book?! I assumed it said banned. Thank you LM.

I take it the "50" rather than "20" part was your error.

However, it is entirely possible that your edition of Krause has a typo where they printed "banned" instead of "banded". I've seen worse errors in Krause.
