1996 pennies

Is there any known doubling of any kind on these pennies? If so is there anyone that has one or a link to pictures or info on it.

    Did you find something?

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

  • There are 4 known DDO's and one DDR, I don't know if I can scan in the pics, but I am looking at Crawfords book, Ad Detailed analysis on lincoln cent Varieties, maybe someone can get some pics, but die 1 has very distinc spread on the 1996, specifically the 996 and some on in god we trust, especially the S in trust. Die 2 is less prominent but has doubling on LIB and on the 6 on the date. Die 3 has small splits on the R in thust and so on, a small variety, Die 4 is the same but on liberty, small splits on the corners and the DDR is most prominent on the A of americA. Hope this helps.

  • I found 3 DDO and 1 DDR for the 1996-P. Also 1 DDO for the D mint.

    CONECA 1-O-V....very noticable on date.

CONECA 2-O-V.... mostly on date and liberty

DDO-3..... minor doubling on 6 in date and r in trust. Other features show extra thickness.

    DDO-4...minor doubling on liberty

    DDR-1..minor doubling on America

    1996-D

    CONECA 1-O-V....doubling on motto

I'll post pics later if I have time

    EDIT TO ADD:

Boy it must have took me a long time to type that. I did not see you post Jeff. I'm looking at the same book.

I think so the, date is doubbled.

  • the one i found sounds like CONECA 1-O-V

  • Here are the scans. If this is not it let me know I'll scan the others. Joe

I should have named these better.

    DDO-1 & DDO-1(2) are of CONECA 1-O-V

    DDO-2 & DDO-2(2) are of CONECA 2-O-V
  • it might be DDO 3

  • Here's DDO-3 for you.
  • I think it's that one but my scanner is so bad im not sure.when you look at the DDO 3 with a naked eye does the "R" in trust look bigger than all the other lettetrs and the date doubbling can be seen with the naked eye? if thats how DDO 3 looks then thats what I found. Is it worth anything?

  • this is very confusing since I can't take good pictures with my scanner

  • According to Billy Crawfords " A Detailed Analysis of Lincoln Cent Varieties", which is whare these photos came from it is worth $6 in ms-65.
  • now that i've been thinking about it I think it's die 1.almost sure because of the "996" being doubbled.
    cool!

  • I think that is the most dramatic for 1996 and has a listed price of $150 in 65 and $250 in 67
  • Will PCGS note that it is CONECA 1-O-V if I get it certifed?
    thanks for all the help!image

  • They could list it under the "mint error program" but many people prefer variety cents to be certified by ANACS. Many consider them to be at least equal to PCGS when it comes to modern copper. Cheaper and I'm sure alot faster as well.
  • I'll have to get that certifed by ANACS then. thanks again!

  • Katrina,
I absolutely agree with you. The pics Chuck has on his site are outstanding. It is still a work in process and before responding here I checked his website and found no 1996. image Joe

  • I feel like I'm blind. I look at those photos and can't see what I'm supposed to be seeing.
