I have a few Liberty Nickels and am looking for some more certified in VF and better. Can anyone recommend any good internet dealer sites for certified Liberty Nickels?

Thanks!

sorry, but you'd be nuts to pay extra for a slabed libnick. ANY fool should be able to grade a libnick in vf!!!

I'm sorry, but that is a bit rogh. I am not by any means a fool and yet I am also not an expert or even close when it comes to grading. I would not be able to grade a libnick in VF or any other grade for that matter simply because I haven't spent any time looking at them or attempting to grade them. That is why many of us come here to this forum, to learn. I understand that many of you are self described "experts" but that doesn't mean all of us are. Remember, once upon a time YOU could not grade a libnick in VF. Does that make you a fool? Or were you born with a natural gift of 100% accurate grading skills across all types of coins in all grades?

Part of the fun of collecting is learning and grading is something you should learn. Get a grading book (ANA), compare the different grades and you'll get the hang of it pretty quick. Most Liberty nickels are very inexpensive in VF and you wouldn't really want to pay the extra fee for the slab. If you can't make it to a Coin Show, shop around ebay. You should be able to pick some up cheap. Unless you're looking for the '85, '86 or the 12-S.

Except for the '85, '86, and '12-S, I think you'll have a hard time finding VF Liberty nickels that ARE graded. I usually only see slabbed MS examples.

Actually, I was looking mainly for the 1885, '86, and 1912-S. So many of these coins have been cleaned or damaged and that is why I have been looking for graded examples.

not knowing how to grade a libnick in vf does not a fool make, but it is foolish to BUY 1, slabed or not, BEFORE you can grade a coin in vf.

learn to grade 1st, THEN buy coins. it's by no means brain surgery to distinguish a vf libnick from 1 in fine or xf! your just not talking a lot of $$$ here!!!
