Nice ending price on a Lance Alworth rookie card

1963 Fleer Alworth rookie card just sold for $ 1,200
It's a pop 1 of 12, and the SMR on it is $ 750

Seller claims it is "DEAD CENTERED",
but the centering looks more like it's just in a coma to me.

Waiting to spend my $ 1,200 on a better looking one ... image

Wolfbear - I had the third highest bid on the card and you are right, it is far from dead centered. It finished up right around where I thought it would.
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."

"DEAD CENTERED" on ebay means that if you tilt the card at just the right angle all of the borders appear to be equalimage
  • My experience with that card says that most are o/c left to right just like that one and that PSA has been very very generous sometimes on that feature. I have not seen a 9 yet on that card that I would call well centered. It looks a lot like one of mine. I didn't really want the card that I bought since it was so far off but I got it at $350 a couple of years ago, so I took it and have never really found one I like better. At least not $800 better.

Wanted: Bell Brands FB and BB, Chiefs regionals especially those ugly milk cards, Coke caps, Topps and Fleer inserts and test issues from the 60's. 1981 FB Rack pack w/ Jan Stenerud on top.
  • How did I miss that auctionimage
I agree though. The card is a 9, but the centering lacks eye appeal. Gotta wait till the next one shows up

    Another M.O.S.H. Pit win!

I think their museum is slated to open... the day after GAI's message boards do.
