Resubmitting Question

I recently purchased a PSA 9 Upper Deck Griffey Rookie. Upon close inspection with a magnifying glass, I see no imperfections whatsoever. The centering left to right seems perfect (I am not an expert on top to bottom centering). I cannot see any corner imperfections either. There may be an imperfection that I cannot see because I am looking through the PSA holder. I have one other Upper Deck Griffey PSA 9 that is not even close to this quality. What is your opinion on breaking it open and resubmitting in hopes of a 10? I can't imagine it coming back less than a 9 unless I (or PSA) damages it somehow.

Thanks,

Don

The trick on the Griffeys is usually a roller mark or surface wrinkle that is very tough to see. I'll assume since it's in a PSA 9 holder, it probably displays neither of those characteristics. I then would turn my attention to the hologram on the back. Make sure it is centered in the recess, has 4 sharp or evenly "rounded" sections and is symmetrical. This is probably the single most overlooked item on UD cards of that era. The hologram has to be perfect. There are a million Griffey's with perfect centering and corners, the trick is in the hologram and the roller marks/surface wrinkles that were so common, especially on 89 UD. If that all looks good...might be a good candidate to resubmit. You can always try your luck with SGC/GAI/BGS too...

    Good luck.
