Pittsburgh Show Report

Got up at 4:30 this morning and drove the 270+ miles to the ANA show. Who do I register next to before the show opens, but KSteelheader. I actual met him a couple of minutes later along with Keets and MWoods. Saw IdahoGal, LSperber, Steve, and a few other forum members - all for the first time! image

Well, I spent most of my time trading for a 1882 NGC58 $20 Liberty. It also looks like it is going to cost me a few bucks! image The coin came from David Akers through Rob Lehmann at The Reeded Edge. Y'all can look at it at his table #324. I have a few other pieces on display there, also. Mr. Akers bought me a copy of the new Bowers double eagle book and said he'd ship me one of his!! Awesome (maybe I paid too much image)

Saw a ton of different coins and I didn't have to wait in line at many tables - the bourse was populated but not crowded. Held a really cool MS65 Chain Cent at Legend's table and viewed the Cardinal Dollar set! image

Even though it was not crowded, those who were there seemed to be spending money. Deals were definately being done, but at what level, I do not know.

Well, I took my NGC58 1882 $20 right over to PCGS and crossed it!! image Only cost me $200. image

Around 3:30 pm , Laura sold me a cool 1883cc $20 and I went headed home tired, broke and happy. Stopped at Roy Rogers on the turnpike and grabbed a Double R Burger for the 270+ miles home.

It was a fun day!

Almost forgot. I saw the coolest coin being display by Larry Shapiro - a proof Indian Cent that was 65BN but was a beautiful reflective bullet grey. Stop by and see it!

You drove 540 miles in one day for a coin show? Have you not heard of airplanes? Sounds like a long day.

I drove 800 miles to Portland for the Spring show. (then drove 800 miles home a few days later). 540 miles doesn't even get me across my state.

    Yup,
The Pennsylvania Turnpike is my second home. I wasn't gonna go, but I got the call about the 1882 last night, and... duh.. well... err.

OK. I HAD TO GO!!! image
