All of the people that collected inserts of Nomar...

That cost a bunch more because it had his jersey number in the serial numbering, got screwed when he went to the Cubs, huh.

Didn't the same thing happen to A-Rod also? Can you imagine having spent thousands of dollars on "unique" Nomar inserts or parallels that had his jersey number in the serial number, and then lose all that extra luster your collection had just because he went to another team and had to switch numbers? That would suck.

7 MVP awards, the single season HR record, career walks record, single season walks record, 700HR/500SB, and two batting titles near 40 years old. How can one argue that those aren't stats of the greatest to ever play the game??? All this and there is still more to come!!!! Bonds:2005 NL MVP. Or are you going to doubt him again?

  • Roach,

What are you talking about? He wore #5 in Boston and he is wearing #5 in Chicago.

My bad then. I live right here in Chicago, watched the game last night, and still didn't catch it. I know when he first came, Michael Barrett had the number and didn't give it up right away. Ok, then how about A-Rod? He didn't end up with his old number, did he?

    Thanks!

I think Roach is right on Nomar's number at first. In the first warmups they showed on ESPN he was wearing a number in the teens. But numbers are always for sale, especially when a mega-star comes in and a roleplayer has it. Some prices are higher than others. On the Phillies, John Kruk wore 3 or 4 numbers. He was always selling it when new players came in, usually for a case of beer or ding dongs. Didn't Rickey Henderson give someone a Rolex for his number one time?

  • Nomar wore #8 for the first two games, if I remember correctly. Then he switched.

But the point is valid. I remember a friend being upset because he had to change his license plate when Reggie Jackson left the A's because he no longer wore #9.

If it were me, however, I wouldnt care. The items with one number for one team is still valid and the number for the other team would also be valid.

Yeah, ARod had to change... #3 was retired for some reason... I forget his name for the Yankees... so anyway, Arod wears #13 now!

    Just kiddin' Roach. image
