Oh no! Future Jeff collector????

So, looking at some of my coins lately and the boy (2 1/2) decides he wants nickels.
He puts them in his hands and even takes them to sleep with him image

I even tried to trade him some Sacagaweas...that only last an hour or so. Then, he traded them back for nickels.
I gotta teach him the value of money...not just what is pretty image

Now, he has 3 more jeffersons and is walking around with them. Luckily, he is using common pocket change image

I showed him my proof set for my birth year and got him reciting what each one is, to see if someone got his attention.

#1 Nickel
#2 Quarter
#3 Penny (yes...I called it a penny and not a cent or lincoln image)
#4 Half dollar (it is only a Kennedy after all :Funnyimage
#5 Dime (I don't blame him...they are too small and not much fun image )

Hmmm....maybe I should try to get him a jefferson set and start building that up for him?
Does anybody really collect jeffersons anyway? (ducking from Keets image )

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

  • Jeffersons are perfect for kids! No other series will let you routinely find
dates in rolls as far back as these. You can nearly fill an entire album for
a few bucks, and purchase the missing pieces in low-grade for not much
    more.

    Fun, fun, fun!

Get a folder and let him start filling holes from circulation when he's old enough. Jeffies are the natural choice for this.

I think solid is exactly right. I think Jeffs provide the most coins to collect from pocket change. No other denomination of U.S. coinage can still be found from the 1940s and 1950s with some regularity. I even see 1939s in change on occasion, though that's becoming a little more unusual these days. When I was younger, I saw quite a few 1939 and 1940 dated Jeffs in my change.
  • I like Quarters more than nickels, but they are my two favorite coin denominations.

I also love to go through rolls to find coins.
