One last time...mint error submissions?

Okay, just wanted to check one last time relative to DD's:
- If PCGS recognizes a DD variety, no mint error designation is needed (just use the number defined by PCGS)
- If PCGS does not recognize a DD variety, one can get a mint error designation put on the holder? Where does one define that on the submission form? For example, they'll put the F&S number on the holder?
Thanks,
keoj

I started a thread on this a couple of days ago. From the replies to that post, your first point is dead on. To your second point, PCGS has a separate Mint Error submission level. It costs the same as a regular submission ($30 per coin) but takes a little longer (approximately 30 days), I assume the extra time is to verify the error or variety. There is a field right on the standard submission form where you can write in a brief description of the error or variety.
What I don/t know is what doubled dies PCGS will recognize with this service. It doesn't work like ANACS, which will attribute just about any doubled die, PCGS has some limits. At one time I recall hearing they would attribute varieties listed in the Cherrypickers' Guide with an interest level of Moderate of High, but not Low. If you're not sure if your particular variety will qualify, I would suggest a quick call or note to customer service before you submit.
Something else I confirmed when I renewed this year - if you have Collectors' Club free submissions, you can write 'Mint Error' on the top of the invoice and submit them as your four freebies. I've been rooting through double-row boxes for two weeks now trying to pick out my four error and/or variety coins to submit.
