Has anyone looked in, used, or read the "ORIENTAL COINS & THEIR VALUES, THE WORLD OF ISLAM"
I wonder how good it is as a reference?

    Never heard of it.

    I would imagine a reference book on Islamic coinage will only get you so far with pictures and descriptions- one would almost have to be able to read Arabic to decipher some of them. But that book could be useful- who knows?

    Collector since 1976. On the CU forums here since 2001.

    It's the Islamic abbreviations, stylistic abbreviations and slang or local language differences in writing
    that mess me all up. Sort of like what the Romans do on their coins with the Ceasars. They have to abbreviate all the
    titles to get them to fit on the coin.
