Looks like No is the answer......image

As suggested a few hours will be given to see if a coin auction for the Hurricane victims will fly on this forum. I was trying to get a answer quickly with the first post. I will be patient.....image

The coin is a Merc of course.

    ?

    Joe.
  • he wanted to know if a coin auction for hurricane Charley victims would work on this forum.............and didn't get any response - kind of like my donation thread for them. A simple "colon" in headline gets more responses.........Oh well - ya know what they say .............

Ask a question that pertains to a somewhat serious problem and no one will answer. Put a BS title and answer up here and people will answer. What the heck is the deal with people ?

Hell if I would have gave the coin away a slug of people would answer. This forum is disgusting at times.

In 31 minutes I would think a Yes or No could be typed. Now someone else give me a ration of Chit.

Neptune this IS NOT pointed at you at all.

Some people work and don't see the boards for a few hours. He should have waited more than 31 minutes specially during the daytime.

  • well, is that so? ........... well take a look at the dates on this one.............it's even worse. When I TTT'd it, you would think I had the plague ........ and for any smart butts out there - no I don't.

    Open Forum thread

Maybe an auction 'would' work better - I was just thinking "quick" turnaround - like those folks are uncomfortable NOW...Later, they will have (some of them) insurance money and FEMA coming in ........... maybe a contest between the different forums would generate some interest - to see who can do best - US Coins, Open, Darksiders, etc................ or maybe just a weird title in headline, such as the colon, worked pretty good...................or maybe not.

I give up! - - - but will donate to the auction if one is held ........... We need an address to send the donations to. I don't have a lot of expensive coins - or any for that matter - but do have a few things ....... maybe not limited the items being donated to coins, would also help.

I also think that there is just ONE forum members who had damage, etc. I am not sure how to go about rounding them all up - especially since some of them probably don't even have power or phone or even a computer yet...............

Might I recommend editing the thread and adding a poll to it (or creating a new thread with a poll)?

    Hi Al

If the members do not object ( after a few hours ) the coin will be a 1943S PCGS graded MS67FB Merc that will start at zippo and go to the high bidder No Matter What. The proceeds will be sent to Tom's Pay Pal account, which can be found in the thread that Pam started for the Florida Hurricane victims.

Thats about it. Now get a cup of coffee and wake up.

    Take Care.

Hold up.An auction is nice, but there will be only one winner thus only one person to cough up???? That won't do!

I guess too many people are just worried about themselves instead of people whose homes and lives have been destroyed. That is very disappointing. Where I live we get hurricanes on a regular basis and let me tell all of you something....when the power is off and there's no AC and you're hot, sticky and miserable for almost 2 weeks...when it gets Blacker than Black at night and you hear every little sound, no TV, no cool air nothing good to eat, when you've lost your home, all your belongings, all the food you had stocked up in your freezer and your refrigerators and are just devastated, and in the case of this storm you've lost friends and family becayse a 15 foot high wall of water caught all these folks off guard because it had been 40 years since a storm of this caliber hit the, brother we're talking misery like you wouldn't believe.

No matter if I win a coin or not you can bet your bottom dollar I'll be doing more than sitting in the A/C playing with my little coins. Be merciful people...what if it were you that lost everything and were made to endure misery that you cannot even imagine! You'd WISH someone would show a little compassion. "Blessed are the Merciful for they shall obtain mercy!"

Thinking.......... You see, after the storm has passed is when the real misery sarts. When the heat returns and mixes with all the water the humidity is stifling. With the stagnant water comes the mosquitoes, the snakes, the disease an the human buzzards that will come and loot you and ransack your dwelling, no matter if that dwelling is a tent that the snakes and mosquitoes crawl into. So you must sleep as best you can, unable to bathe with a pistol at your side and you get some sort of picture of how it used to be back when there was no electricity, no TV, AC, computers or rerigerators. Your sesne of hearing is keen and you become sleep deprived from being in this constant state-unable to sleep if you even wanted to. Not much privact at any of the shelters, provided there are even any shelters available. You can stack but so many people in a certain area and it's a question of being driven to the breaking point-to the point of madness. Tempers flare and with that, many crimes are committed. Not good man...NOT GOOD AT ALL.

HEY, CAN ANYBODY SPARE A FEW DOLLARS, THE COST OF A HAPPY MEAL TO BRING A LITTLE COMFORT TO THESE PEOPLE? SEE NEPTUNE'S THREAD AND SHOOT SOME MONEY ANONYMOUSLY INTO THAT ACCOUNT AND DON'T WORRY ABOUT THE DOG-GONE PARTICULARS. JUST DO A GOOD DEED ANONYMOUSLY AND WATCH HOW YOU WILL BE BLESSED!! HELP YOUR FALLEN BROTHERS!!
JUST DO IT! ALL YOU PEOPLE ON THE WEST COAST-THINK YOU'RE SAFE? Think about it! What if another Mt St Helens takes place or another major earthquake- wouldn't you be forever grateful to someone whose Name you'll never know? And you people in the Northeast- Remember 9-11 and how everybody pitched in? All you people in the Great Plains States that have to deal with tornadoes. Be merciful and maybe mercy will miraculously spare your home from devastation. All my Southern friends, you KNOW how it is. What's $5.00? HELP THESE PEOPLE and don't ask questions. Come on!!
  • God bless them all.
  • Well, guess you answered your own question - It worked! ............ the proceeds will go a long way in helping those folks out down there who are so devastated. When you have a flashlight and no job and no batteries and it's dark and there are looters .................. a couple of batteries will go a longggggggg way!!!!!!!

Thanks again Fairlaneman - Ken, and nice to meet ya!

    Pam
