I guess the toning craze hasn't hit Lincolns or Jeffersons really. I was also able to cherry pick a dealers 4 albums of toned Roosies as well.

Thanks for looking,

Michael

Not that these coins are monsters, but it does show that if you search and have a good relationship with a couple of dealers, you can get nice coins without paying a huge premium for toning. I am simply amazed that toned Lincolns haven't caught on yet with the toned coin collecting world. Copper can tone up really nicely. Everytime I find one of these I snap'em up.

    Thanks

That borders on criminal. I like attractive toning as much as almost anyone, but (a) I won't pay huge premiums for it, (b) I don't want to feed the toning frenzy and encourage more creative use of the acetylene torch, and (c) I'm not confident enough about my ability to regularly distinguish between AT and NT (and indeed, it's basically a judgment call in many cases) and figure I can get burned.

While I'd hate what it would do to folks who pay huge premiums for beautiful, natural toners, I fear that the end of the "toning craze" (and the dropping values of monster toners) is the only thing that will prevent a lot more nice, natural, beautiful and valuable coins from getting this "Shake and Bake" treatment.

That's funny, I'm seeing the same thing. It's a shame really since the coins are blantant AT and I'm betting will never get slabbed. I figure after he dumps a bunch of money into grading fees just to get bodybags he'll stop the insanity though.

    I hope.
