How do the grades compare to what you were expecting?

Right on the money.... exactly what I thought they were five in 6 and two in 5. As always, however, I prepaired myself mentally to do much worse.

"...I thought they were five in 6 and two in 5."

That's excellent, you should apply to PCGS to work as a grader, they certainly need more staff.

Well, I think I grade Lincolns as well as anyone. I also grade Morgans extreamly well. I rarely deal in anything else, though. I think they'd be looking for someone with a broader scope of proficientcy.

Besides, I'd have to give up collecting. That wouldnt be cool at all...

A perfect example of a specialized collector who knows what PCGS is looking for. Sometimes it don't matter what WE think it's what their current standards are (which seem to always change) at any given time. Congratulations even if they are only pennies.imageimage

  • So how is PCGS structured? I know they have a small staff with transferable knowledge for all coins, but do they have an specialists? e.g. wheat cent specialists?

    Ain't that the truth!!

I'm glad they came back they way you wanted them too!

Did you ever crack that 31-s out?

Yah, I tried that coin once under the $50 service. It came back the same grade. Even so, I'm convinced that coin is nicer than 80% of the PCGS 66RD's out there. I have it in my better date type collection as the non-vdb lincoln right now. It is destined to be in a 66 holder, but there's no need in rushing it. I REALY like that coin, and when it ups, I'll be more tempted to sell it.
