Waiting, waiting!!! So where's everyone at in terms of "the trip" t to Pittsburgh??

keetskeets Posts: 25,351 ✭✭✭✭✭
I was wondering what everyone's doing?? Getting ready to leave, already there, flying out in the morning???

I'm sitting at home, just got back from the bank. Mdwoods is somewhere between Detroit and Cleveland while I pack and wait nervously for his arrival. I'll be glad to get to the show so I don't have to let coins like this one pass me by!!! I've been hunting for a nice 63-64 Isabella for my denomination set and the last month has been a killer while I hold off on the trigger to look at whatever shows up at the show. This coin looked kind of nice, though. On a related not, there's a PR65 Isabella in the Heritage auction that I'm gonna look at. Not that I have any illusions about bidding on it, but I do want to at least look at the coin.

WOWZER!!!!!! What a design. Hopefully I can find a mid-grade coin that won't drain me and I can post a few pics this weekend.

Physically, I'm still here; mentally I'm already there. Haven't booked a hotel yet but it's only Tuesday. Setting aside the $50 I need for tolls and I'm not even leaving the state.image Will need someone to babysit my ebay auctions Friday night - I'll be in church.image

Getting there early Friday. Do the show and come back early Saturday. Four hours at the show is plenty for me. Might buy a coin and might not.
  • Flying in Thursday morning and leaving Sunday.

I will be arriving Thursday afternoon, have a few hours at the show with my son and father, then all day at the show myself on Friday.

I am working on getting Steelers tickets for Saturday night. You can learn a lot about how NOT to run an ebay auction by the practices of those (mostly newbies) trying to sell their Steelers tickets for the upcoming exhibition game.

    See you at the show.

hey now, it sounds like things are starting to firm up for a good show. in case anyone's trying to find me or avoid me image on Wednesday morning, i'll have on a "Make Love and Not War" shirt, visible from the back. a good rendezvous spot might be at PTVetter's table, manned by Pat and his wife Betty Jean, along with forum kronies VAM44 and the krankmiester, all Pitsburghians!!! i'll also be stopping by at AngelDee's and Pinnacle. if anyone knows where njcoincrank will be, post the table number.

had a call from Woods about half an hour ago. he'll be here around 5:30 and we're gonna catch supper at "The Flying Burrito Cantina" around the corner. hopefully the jalapenos won't kick in till we reach the hotel!!!!!!!!

it's gonna be great to see everyone again, to meet the new faces:

    TooTawl---don't worry, we'll find YOU!!!!
dimples---those first few hundred miles are a real bummer!!!
    ajaan----first day is Wednesday.
hey Bruce---you are one lucky dog!!
hey Ben---maybe we can meet for breakfast. i'll PM later tonight if i get a chance so check before you leave.
Robert---if you have time, walk the floor with me and give me a "Gold Tutorial" as i look for some type.
..........all you church goers, knock it off!!!!!!!!!

I'm already here! Having a great time!

I'll save my show report until the weekend, but one tidbit for now: I got to hold two Stellas. One was aluminum and the other was copper.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

I get in Thurs afternoon... I'll be looking for you!!!
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

  • I am packed, have a sunrise flight out of John Wayne Airport at 6:45 AM tomorrow morning, go through Chicago and change planes, and hit Pittsburgh around 4 PM.....Will be working the show at the Spectrum Numismatics table until our departure on Saturday afternoon. Will be at the Friday nite dinner, looking forward to meeting new friends. If you are bringing anything to sell, give me a shot at it.....stop by the Spectrum table and ask for Dale Larsen. Here's hoping everyone travelling to Pittsburgh has a safe journey and Happy Coin Hunting!

I will arrive Friday morning with my wife. I guess it might be easier to meet most of you at the PCGS Registry luncheon so I can put faces with the user and real names. Also I will be able to make my rounds with the dealers and just bump into all of you. If any of you are NOT going to the luncheon just post a message here and a PM so I can meet you EARLIER only if you not sticking around to the end of the day Friday or even Saturday.
