image I'm cracking up over the thread title! image

I'd go as high as 30 on that coin but that would be tops.

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

  • sorry, ya'll obviously dont understand early washingtons. it's a lock pcgs xf45 all day, every day. nice looking 32-s at that as well.....
  • The early Washingtons are basically flat coins, like Peace dollars, with little detail. It's not wear. This one has some wear and I think 55 is real generous, but that's a sellers right. I'd place it at around XF45 also.

I too would like to buy any like that at 20 money.

The 32-s has always had a rather weak strike. However, I always wonder when a key coin

is being sold without being in a premo slap. Kinda makes one wonder if the mint mark is glued on or not.

On second glance, 20 might be a bit harsh. I'll go up to 35, maybe 40 depending how it looks in hand.

Knowing that the '32-S is usually struck up rather flat and with some loss of detail, I think it has a good shot at XF. I think AU-55 is certainly pushing it, though.

  • ewe like 'at eh, russ?
  • matter fact, if that bin was about 135 i'd pop it in a sec. clean rims, nice luster, half decent strike, great original 72 yr old color, no major marks either side, it's unmolested and ready for 100 collectors we sell to regularly. BUT, i wouldnt retail for more than 160-165-ish. nice coin, if someone needs one and wanted to go ahead today and stretch to secure a quality example, then push that button. all systems are A-OK.....
  • flat,weak strike !

I agree with the XF 45 Grade that's what I thought it was when I first saw this post.
But I don't like black spots on the coin. Could get bagged for ED!

Although I"m not an expert on ultra moderns, it does look like an XF-45 to me as well. Washington quarters always seem like flat strikes to me.

"Ebay Ernie" has had debates on this forum, from time to time, regarding grading.

He expressed his opinions and many board members expressed, shall we say politely, other opinions.

I'll leave it at that image

The coin has luster and the photo can not pick it up. The coin is absolutely genuine and suffers from the mentioned flat strikes. The feather details on the breast are sharper than the photo. It is certainly an AU in today's market. It was not yanked from a holder, it came in an AU-Unc set. As for the price, it has been listed a few times and we bought it some time ago. The levels have changed on them and we have not raised the price.
  • Hey Ernie,
Did you sell me that Kennedy on E- bay the other day?
  • orevilleoreville Posts: 11,960 ✭✭✭✭✭
Ernie: I will personally pay for you to have the coin slabbed by PCGS or NGC (economy service) and see what grade they come up with. Indeed at an AU-50 grade luster could be minimal but still peeking in the protected areas.

Of course, the agreement has to be that the coin needs to be received by a neutral party and that pics will be taken by that person for all of us to see.

If you are right you have everything to gain. If you are partially wrong or very wrong you lose nothing since you now have a slabbed coin that you can still sell. Even at a slabbed EF-40 or 45 the coin is still a viable coin to sell within your price range.

I can't tell what it really is but guessing, I would say EF40.

Consider my offer a gift of seeking the truth not to bash you.

  • I'll make it sweeter. If it comes in at AU55, I'll give you the full BIN and pay the grade fee (economy of course, I'm cheap.) If it comes in less , I get to keep the coin, for free.
