VAMLINK Web Site -- Update for Morgan Dollar VAM Collectors ??

StuartStuart Posts: 9,761 ✭✭✭✭✭
I noticed today on the VAMLINK Web Site that they were planning some much needed updates to that site in June 2004.

Has anyone noticed if the updates have been implemented yet, or do you know what the status of the updates are??

I'd love to see a more up-to-date single consolidated VAM designation listing, and direct hot-links to photomicrographs depicting the diagnostics for each of the major VAM varieties (especially those with high market value premiums). image

Thanks in advance for whatever updated information you can provide.

This was an excellent site in 97 & 98. Bought my VAM Book from here in 98. I noticed they have updated it some since then. I had forgot about this site as there had been no new info for a while. Like you, I wish they would get it together with pics showing more detail.

  • Vamlink is Jeff Oxman's web site. Apparently he had some health issues in the past year or two in addition to other commitments, so the VAM thing was set aside. Rob Joyce's web site has some excellent pictures and comparisons of some interesting VAM's. Including all of his 1921 die cracks.

As far as updated population survey and pricing information, I think you'll have to subscribe to Mike Fey's quarterly newsletter as a paid service. He keeps a pretty tight list and surveys trade prices. Top 100 Insights.

I picked up a copy of Coinage at the pre-ANA show and was surprised to see that their price guide includes prices for the Top 100 VAMs in multiple grades.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

Does anyone have a listing of the Top 100 or Top 150 VAMS sorted by market value premium??

Is it accurate to say that the PCGS recognized 24? "Letter" Morgan VAMS are also the Top price premium coins??

Including all of his 1921 die cracks. Actually, most of the really cool stuff is the book the site is just a teaser.
