Help with a British Half Sovereign, Sydney Mintmark?

Hey World Coin folks,

I've got an 1869 Half Sovereign which I believe has an "S" mintmark below the shield on the Reverse.

Can anyone confirm this?

The slab says "1869 1/2S" is that S for Sovereign or Sydney?

I don't have any expereince with World Gold. I'm just looking to sell the coin on Ebay and I don't want to undersell it, if the Sydney mintmark is rare and expensive.

So, the second part is, does anyone have an idea of value for the coin?

    The 1/2S means half sovereign I believe.

    I agree with Don, that 1/2S means 1/2 Sovereign. There is no mint-mark on the coin.

    I think what he is refering to is a possible die number under the rev. shield. Looks like a "5".

    also, Spinks list it @ 40£ in Fine.

    According to my Krause, there were no 1/2 sovereigns minted in Australia in 1869.
