Beware - fraudulant auto on e-Bay (Scoreboard)

remember reading that someone was caught selling fake "Scoreboard authenticated" autographs who had purchased the Scoreboard embossing seal when they went bankrupt. This guy lives in Hong Kong and is currently selling 15 or 20. I've already reported this to E-Bay - we'll see what they do.

    There was something in the news about one person who was arrested for selling these fake scoreboard cards. I bought tons and tons of scoreboards auto's when they were in business and none of the cards being auctioned were issued as certified autographs. I'll try to find a link to the news story about how the person arrested had purchased the Scoreboard "authentic embosser" when the company went bankrupt. Trust me - this is a scam.

    Not that familiar w/ scoreboard either. So did they really take other "brand' cards and have them auto'd? I thought they had their own "line" of cards?

    I have seen several Jim Kelly's on ebay from there..never ever seen any of them before so I always thought they were really rare, never thought about the bankrupt thing.

    For the 1996 Pro Line Memorbilia set, they did repackage older authenticated autographs and add their seal to the card. In one box, I received a 4 sport card (I think Hugh Douglas) that was purchased by scoreboard and "re-authenticated". To my knowledge, Scoreboard NEVER bought base cards (such as the topps, upperdeck, fleer...ect that are being sold on E-Bay), had them autographed and then authenticated them w/ their embossed seal. Seriously, compare the Marino auto being sold to other Marino authenticated autographs. It's not even CLOSE.

    Wow - where are you moving from/to? Actually, I have to cool my jets for a while. I just dropped a bundle in the last month plus I just shipped off a 100+ card order for grading. I'm done until Sept or Oct (yeah...right..)

    What is even worse is some of the big Grading Companies are grading fake autos.

    LOL I look into this guys feedback, theres my feedback from this "Jim Kelly" autograph I bought. I was always cerious as to this card as it doesn't look anything like Jim's autograph.....

    Man that $4 griffey auto looks tempting to bid on, but no way does that look like griffeys auto. Would it be possible to sue the fella if the card isnt real???...

    Funny how he only takes paypal and just cash. No cashiers checks or personal checks. You never send "just cash" through the mail....

    I just e-mailed the seller and told him that I know he is selling forged items. Let's see what he comes back with. I will call E-Bay tomorrow. These scum bags bring out the worst in me.

    Whose idiotic idea was it anyway at scoreboard to sell the autograph authenticator stamp?? Humm..I wonder what the buyer could use it for. Thats how crap like this always happens, it starts with some moron not using their damn brain.

    Exactly - the embosser should have been destroyed. From what I understand, the embosser was sold at a bankruptcy auction - where the person selling it would have no idea of the potential problems that could occur. Unreal....
