    No problem Grip.

Not sure what happened on your link, but I know that more people are apt to look if they can just click.
    That's not a quarter I would buy.......

(isn't this the same ernie that has been discussed on the boards a bit and who seems to overgrade his raw coins...consistently??)

Yep sure is, and he made a surprise showing about a week ago. If you do a search you might find the lengthy thread. Interesting reading.
    Prost!

Why step over the dollar to get to the cent? Because it's a 55DDO.

I remember parts of the thread....he was whining about someone in that thread......that's probably why I remembered the name a bit.

Choice AU-55 with delicate original tone. Loaded with original mint luster, you'll like this coin!

    Not!?!?!?!
Description doesnt even fit the photo.
    Nice spot Al.

  • Good old Ernie.
I sent him an online grading site with pictures for Barber dimes a while ago.
He wrote back and asked what it was for.image

Typical eBay grading, call a VF coin an AU coin, no surprise there.

Since he consistently overgrades one can logically conclude it is deliberate. If if was just that he can't grade, he'd sometimes undergrade.

Yup, plus the fact that he offers an "AU-55" with a BIN price that's below both Coin World's and PCGS's listed value for XF-40, that also concludes that he knows it's not a 55, IMO. If you have a true AU-55 example of a key date, you wouldn't be selling it raw for XF money.
