"Diet Cherry Coke" is the "low pop" in this world. Sorry no pic.
Wanted: Bell Brands FB and BB, Chiefs regionals especially those ugly milk cards, Coke caps, Topps and Fleer inserts and test issues from the 60's. 1981 FB Rack pack w/ Jan Stenerud on top.
<< <i>i just popped open a 1 of 6 diet pepsi can >>
when you're done, will you update the pop report to show only 5? i think if you drink the diet pepsi, its the equivalent of cracking a card out of a slab..
actually, i think this post is a sign that its getting late.. so i'm going to bed..
I think this CS and Pepsi Edge phenomenon is quite funny, actually. It's soda for those people who are too "carb conscious", but for whom Diet Coke or Diet Pepsi is too girly.
Man - some people are too worried about image! I figure that we, as baseball card collectors, have already established ourselves as much cooler than the average guy.
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
<< <i>Man - some people are too worried about image! I figure that we, as baseball card collectors, have already established ourselves as much cooler than the average guy. >>
Yeah, kinda like a guy needed a 10 when an 8 would suffice... Ok, bad analogy...
Where have you gone Dave Vargha CU turns its lonely eyes to you What's the you say, Mrs Robinson Vargha bucks have left and gone away?
"Corporate influence (big $) has kept this out of the mainstream news, and out of congress. The FDA refuses to act on clinical data."
and
"Again, those that argue on the siade of Aspartame toxicity use basic BIOCHEMISTRY to show that these chemical conversions do occur. I don't think we understand the extent, yet, on what we are doing to our bodies."
Yet from the FDA (statement below) we find that YES it happens but there are other foods (even ones "good for you") that introduce these "chemicals" into our bodies in a higher degree.
Second, the claim that aspartame ingestion results in the production of methanol, formaldehyde and formate. These claims are factual. In the gastrointestinal tract aspartame is hydrolyzed to one of its component materials, methanol, as well as the two amino acids, phenylalanine and aspartic acid. This methanol is taken up by the cells of the body and metabolized first to formaldhyde and then to formate. The key information that is missing in the description by Ms. Markle is that the levels of ingestion are very modest. In fact, there are other foodstuffs that we ingest that supply as much and sometimes even more methanol; e.g., citrus fruits and juices, and tomatoes or tomato juice. There are even higher quantities of methanol ingested when ethanol is consumed. Thus, in the final analysis this methanol is the same as from other sources of food and in the quantities consumed from aspartame, it is readily and naturally metabolized via the one-carbon biochemical cycle to entirely innocuous and natural body components.
As you have "science" on your side all I can do is rely on what little "research" I can do. But it seems to me that yes it does what you say it does BUT it is not as "bad" as some make it out to be. I mean I can remember when fat was bad, eggs were bad, dont drink, drink for your heart, etc. and so fourth.
my diet consists of Crisco grease, coke (no diet crap), Li'l Debbie snacks, Wendy's, Beanie Weanies, taters, Chef Boyardee, iced tea, french fries, pot, pizza, beer, sprite, chicken wings, any kind of chicken, anything BBQ, any fruit..
"they're talking about the CUMULATIVE effects of regular aspartame consumption and that some people are more affected than others (but everyone is affected) due to a few factors including the condition of their protective blood-brain barrier."
What is meant by "regular" consumption? 2mgs a day? 2mgs a second?
Is "that some people are more affected than others" mean that some people are "less effected"?, not effected?
Its like anything else by the sounds of it. It "MAY" kill/be bad for you, then it might not.
"over 50 doctors & nutritionists" Are the "thousands" of other Doctors and Nutritionists being "paid off"?
Again Im just looking and reading off the internet. Maybe you have reason to believe it is more harmful then it appears to be. I can not remember the last time I had anything with Aspartame in it of course this may be the Aspartame talking... hmmmmmmmmm (joke dont take that serious please)
I made the "Egg" comment and others because it seems "every year" someone is telling us not to eat this and not to eat that. Then in another year they say o wait its good for you, but this (insert other item) is not.
"over 50 doctors & nutritionists" Are the "thousands" of other Doctors and Nutritionists being "paid off"?
I am unsure what "thousands" you are referring to.
You can believe what you like. It's your life.
I made the "Egg" comment and others because it seems "every year" someone is telling us not to eat this and not to eat that. Then in another year they say o wait its good for you, but this (insert other item) is not.
You are correct - there is quite a bit of misinformation out there. That's what makes it difficult to weed-out the facts from the BS.
I just wanted to enlighten some readers that Aspartame is a poison. it breaks down, in our bodies, to toxic substances that are NOT the same things found in other foods.
You may want to read, in my second link above, the HISTORY of the FDA and aspartame. It is quite enlightening.
NP, I agree in the sense that "SOME" people may be effected by this. But hell some people are effected by Milk.
As for the "thousands of other Doctors and Nutritionists" I read some of the "sites" and the most I can come up with is "over 50 doctors & nutritionists" not that many compared with the "total" amount of over doctors & nutritionists out there.
Again I agree if you are having problems/symptoms as listed and are drinking EXCESSIVE amounts of diet soads and the such cut it out. I mean here are what some people were doing:
"I used to go the 7/11 every day and get the giant size (32 oz) Diet Coke"
"Now I consumed about 6-8 diet sodas a day, put it in my several coffees, drank crystal light, dumped heaping tablespoons of nutra on my yogurt, in baking, on my fruit and virtually all that I ate"
" I was buying 12 packs of Diet Coke now. I would grab a 12 pack every other day. Hey had pop at home when ever I wanted. I drank up"
Theres more: "After she discovered Crystal Lite, she raved about how yummy it was and drank it by the gallon. "
"I would get diet drinks on sale, I would only bring one or two up to my apartment. Also, I had a system of buying the canned diet drinks when the 12 paks sold for 2 for $5.00. I would take one 12 pack in to my office at work and leave the other one in the car."
"In the mornings, I would make a gallon of KoolAid and that is what we drank, all day long"
Moderation people. Im sure if MOST people did this in MODERATION there would be no "problems". The body would/could probably burn it off. Hell take the "McDonalds" people for example. O McDonalds made me fat..... yeah......
"i would drink large amounts of coffee with a aspertame sweetner along with chewing large amounts of gum containing aspertame, usually 8 to ten packs a night. i believe my accident was a result of aspertame"
8 to 10 packs of gum in a day!!!! I mean come on. Chew on a stick or something for crying out loud.
<< <i>"i would drink large amounts of coffee with a aspertame sweetner along with chewing large amounts of gum containing aspertame, usually 8 to ten packs a night. i believe my accident was a result of aspertame"

i smoke a pack a day because its safer than chewing gum..
you must collect these. They are actually like pop art now and very cool. I have a TAB cola shirt from around 1976. A promo as they gave out sample Dixie cups of the drink long before COSTCO thought about it. Remeber JOLT Cola.the triple caffine triple sugar smack Atkins in the face drink? Do they still make that? You could drink it and then stay up all night speed reading books.
live each day like it's your last but don't count on it!
TAB is still available (at least it was the last time I went to my local supermarket), but only in 6 pack cans. As the old joke goes, there are so many chemicals in that stuff that under ingredients, it says "see other can". THAT stuff will kill you.
I should have let it drop. However, if you are going to say
<< <i>You are a f$$king moron >>
to me, you had better be able to back up your point. I can't stand people who not only think they are right all the time, but have to try to show off and put someone else down. I was hoping he would respond but I guess he can't think of a way to refute the facts.
Hell when I was "single" my roommate and I culd figure out why a "childrens" show had blondes in thigh high boots. It took us all of 2 seconds to figure out we didnt care.....

ASPARTAME is a poison - it is converted to METHANOL :
Aspartame conversion to Methanol
Methanol (wood alcohol) is a deadly poison. It is converted to FORMALDEHYDE in the body:
Methanol conversion to Formaldehyde
Corporate influence (big $) has kept this out of the mainstream news, and out of congress. The FDA refuses to act on clinical data.
I know this thread was started in jest, but this is a very serious topic in the medical community.
Sorry for the downer..........DRINK MILK!!!!

other "methanol" foods
Hope this helps you rethink your theories about the "other foods" producing methanol. It just ain't the same thing my friend.
BTW - if you reply on the FDA to base an arguement, you will be about 3-4 years behind the curve. The FDA is notoriously late on releasing research.
BTW - fats (and eggs) that you mention in your previous posting are natural. The body KNOWS what to do with them.
Also, you cannot compare fats to Aspartame. Like comparing apples to oranges.
Just providing some info.
