Earth to David Hall, earth to David Hall....David?.....David?...hey Dave.....we need to talk......Great....great....we're glad you're having a good time up there on the moon but we have a major problem down here and we need a little help. Nanotechnology has finally caught up with us, like we told you. David...David....put the micro brain tickler down for a minute please.
As I was saying....nanotechnology has finally caught up with us. The dude in California, the guy who was getting those toned Morgans through us about ten years ago.....well he finally got ahold of some TI self replicating molecule movers. We know this because Cardinal resubmitted that specimen Flowing Hair Dollar...the one that Contursi finally sold for 900K...well this time all of the adjustment marks were gone.
David...will you just give us a minute.......are you listening....yes, I know the earth looks like a big blue gumball from the moon but David we're talking about something really serious here.
What this means is that any defect in any coin can be repaired.
David...no that is not cool. David...David....can you call us back when you are a little more clear minded......yes....we can still talk but David you're gonna have to take a few breathes and stop making those fake siren noises in the background..
David...we have two choices here. We can either spend a butt load of money to try and see if we can differentiate ....no David....we're not talking about food now.....
David ...we need to see if we can differentiate between those coins that have been fixed by the TI SRMM's and coins that haven't.

If I understand the diamond biz today, "natural" diamonds now have serial numbers embedded in them, because that is the only way to tell the difference between natural and synthetic diamonds. The stone is somehow worth "more" because it was found in the earth rather than created artificially, even ATOMICALLY they are the exact same thing.
It's the same deal with toning. Somehow it is worth more if it happened naturally, rather than on purpose, even if the chemical process is the exact same.
Anyway - keep your coins in their old holders, because some day that may be the only way to authenticate them as to the "pre-copied" era of collecting. Although I suppose if you can make an exact copy of a coin, you can probably copy the holder as well
