Where to buy Ikes?

In addition to my interest in Morgans, I've taken a fancy to Ikes. Unfortunately, my local coin shops don't have a wide selection. I've looked through my favorite dealer's Ikes and also looked at what I could at another local shop (they stopped me from going through all their "brown" Ikes - guess they didn't want me cherry picking everything - I did get a nice looking 1971).

What I'd like to do is be able to get some uncirculated to look at, but not spend an arm and a leg getting them. Eventually, I'd like to assemble a complete collection, but I want to see a lot of coins before completing the set.

Any suggestion for on-line resources?

Thanks,

Dean

    Welcome to the boards!

My best source has been 1973-78 mint sets - they sell for next to nothing and every once in a while you can cherrypick a nice MS66 Ike out of it image

There was an eBay auction recently that was offering quite a few.

Frank is correct. Mint sets will be your best source. I have picked a couple of MS66 and a few MS65 coins out of them. And, for what is charged for the sets, you cannot go wrong. Several months ago, I bought a 1974 mint set and a 1976 mint set. I sent in both Denver IKEs to PCGS and both graded MS66. The sets cost me $8.00 each.

The other coins in the set? Well, they are still setting here. Maybe I will put together little Dansco books with them.
