Private Messages - Can You Set Profile to See More than Last 20 Chronologically ??

Does anyone know of a way that you can customize your user preferences to allow you to see more than your last 20 Private Messages in chronological order, without having to search for them individually under first letter of user name??
I did not see an option available to do this under the "customize" settings options.
