Any reports on the coins in the ANR auction tomorrow?

Has anyone seen the coins "up close and personal" yet? Any great buys to be had?

    Yes.

I saw the coins when I visited with ANR in NH on August 7th.

Any great buys to be had? Of course. I suspect the bidding will NOT be that strong on these coins.

  • What makes you think bidding won't be strong? The state of the economy, the quality of the coins, what?

I actually agree with Oreville. The bidding will be very weak on the following lots.

So be sure to bid on and try to win the above losers! Everything else will be very strong!
Just because I'm old doesn't mean I don't love to look at a pretty bust.

I need to clarify my post. Sure there are some great lots. The 1865 proof $20 is a lovely coin worthy of competitive bidding despite some harlines in the obverse field.

The great lots will see stong bids, the also ran stuff will not. I was disappointed with many of the coins I viewed and the internet bidding reflects that so far.

This auction does not have the sustained quality of the Jung auction and bids will not be as strong overall.

But on the weaker lots, bidding might be so weak that bargains may be found on the floor.
